Allein optisch macht das schon einiges her.

Was ich ebenfalls schön fand:

Mein Eindruck

BETTER GIRL in Naha – Breakfast Among Concrete, Wood and Okinawa
Sometimes you don’t discover a restaurant because you spent hours searching for it.
You simply walk past it, look through the large windows and think:
I have to go in there.
That was exactly what happened to me at BETTER GIRL in Naha.
Located in Kumoji, just a few steps from Kenchō-mae Station on the Yui Rail, BETTER GIRL is a small café that initially looks more like a modern design studio than a traditional breakfast restaurant.
Concrete, wood, large windows, black steel structures and plenty of natural light.
And that’s exactly why I went inside.
BETTER GIRL – A Different Kind of Breakfast Café
BETTER GIRL is located at 1-2-25 Kumoji, only around 100 metres from Kenchō-mae Station. That makes it particularly convenient if you are exploring Naha on foot or using public transportation.
But the location isn’t the first thing you notice.
The architecture is.
The café is spread across several levels, connected by an open staircase. Large windows bring in plenty of daylight, while the combination of exposed concrete and warm wood gives the place a distinctive character.
The concrete initially feels quite cool.
The wood brings warmth.
Add some plants, dried flowers and carefully chosen details, and you get a surprisingly cosy mix of industrial design and modern café culture.
My Seat by the Window
I found a seat next to one of the large windows.
Definitely the right choice.
From there, I could watch everyday life happening outside while enjoying the calm atmosphere inside.
The long wooden counters along the windows almost feel like little viewing platforms.
A coffee, breakfast and a chance to watch Naha go about its day.
That’s a pretty good way to start a morning in Okinawa.

And Then Came Breakfast
The food at BETTER GIRL is just as interesting visually as the restaurant itself.
I ordered toasted bread topped with tomatoes, pickled red onions, creamy cheese, capers and black sesame, finished with fresh ingredients and olive oil.
It looked fantastic.
And it tasted just as good.
The combination of crunchy toast, juicy tomatoes, slightly sweet and acidic pickled onions and creamy cheese worked extremely well.
The black sesame added another layer of flavour while also providing a beautiful visual contrast.
For me, this was exactly the kind of breakfast I enjoy when travelling:

fresh, colourful and definitely not just another plate of standard breakfast food.
And of Course, There Had to Be a Drink
BETTER GIRL also has its own style when it comes to drinks.
My drink came in a glass carrying the distinctive “BETTER GIRL” logo.
Next to it were Tabasco and small jars of spices.
These might seem like small details, but they are exactly the things I notice in a café.
It doesn’t feel like an anonymous chain.
It has its own personality.
Even the Condiments Fit the Concept
Small jars of spices sit on the tables alongside Tabasco.
Throughout the café, there is a feeling that someone has actually thought about the details.
The plates, the presentation of the food, the furniture and even the way the ingredients are displayed all feel deliberately chosen.
At the same time, the café remains relaxed and uncomplicated.
It isn’t an over-designed Instagram restaurant.
It feels like somewhere you actually want to sit down and have breakfast.

The Architecture Is Almost an Attraction in Itself
During my visit, I probably took almost as many photos of the interior as I did of the food.
The open layout across several levels is genuinely interesting.
Black steel structures meet warm wooden surfaces.
Concrete meets huge glass windows.
And because the different levels are visually connected, you keep discovering new perspectives.
Looking down from the upper level gives you a completely different impression of the space.
The view from below is different again.
For anyone who enjoys photography, BETTER GIRL is a surprisingly interesting little place.
There is always another angle to discover.

A Café Right in the Middle of Naha
Another thing I liked is that you are not sitting somewhere isolated from the city.
Right outside the windows is everyday Naha.
Cars drive past.
People walk along the street.
The Yui Rail is nearby.
And yet, once you sit down inside, the café feels like a little escape from the city.
That combination really works for me.
You are right in the middle of Naha – but you can still sit quietly and enjoy your breakfast.

BETTER GIRL and Okinawa’s International Side
Okinawa has always had a fascinating mix of Japanese traditions and influences from many different parts of the world.
BETTER GIRL fits quite nicely into that picture.
This isn’t a traditional Okinawan breakfast in the classic sense.
Instead, the café serves modern, internationally inspired breakfast dishes with its own distinctive style.
And that’s exactly what makes it interesting.
Naha has plenty of places where you can enjoy traditional Japanese or Okinawan food.
But sometimes, especially in the morning, you simply want something different.

My Impression
What I liked most about BETTER GIRL was the atmosphere.
It is modern without feeling sterile.
It is compact without feeling cramped.
And the combination of concrete, wood, black steel and huge windows gives the café a very distinctive character.
Then there is the food.
The ingredients looked fresh, the presentation was excellent and the flavour absolutely worked for me.
This is exactly the kind of café I enjoy discovering when travelling.
Not necessarily the most famous attraction.
Not necessarily the restaurant you’ll find in every guidebook.
But a place where you leave thinking:
I’m glad I walked in.
Final Thoughts
BETTER GIRL is an easy recommendation for breakfast in Naha.
Especially if you enjoy modern cafés, good breakfast food and interesting architecture.
Its location close to Kenchō-mae Station also makes it very easy to reach without a car.
There is no dedicated parking at the café, so if you are driving, you’ll need to use one of the nearby public parking facilities.
Current listings show opening hours of approximately 7:00 am to 2:00 pm. Opening hours in Okinawa can change, so I recommend checking the latest information before visiting.
