Heute ging’s mal ins Hausriff, da ich mein Razor Sidemount einstellen und testen wollte.
Falls man neues Equipment hat, und es in Ruhe testen will, ist das eigentlich der perfekte Platz dafür.
Die Basis versorgt einen mit den nötigen Tanks, eine Bleikiste ist immer vor Ort. Ein kleiner Verschlag schützt vor Sonne und aufhänge Möglichkeiten für das Equipment gibt es genügend. Eine Dusche ist ebenfalls vor Ort, genauso wie Toiletten und eine Bar gegen die Dehydration 😉
Startpunkt ist die ‚Sandrutsche‘ am kleinen Strand vor dem Hotel ‚Arabella Azur‘. Dort fällt der sandige Grund wie eine Rutsche von 0 auf ca. 30 Meter ab. Meiner Meinung nach macht es Sinn bis ca 20 Meter abzutauchen und dann rechts auf einen großen Korallenblock zuzutauchen. Ab da kann man dann auf ca 7-8 Meter Tiefe weiter tauchen und mit Glück viel sehen. Dabei hat man auf dem Hinweg das Riff auf der rechten Seite. Oft sieht man viel Glasfisch und deren Räuber wie: Rostfeuerfische, Gold Makrelen , kleine Zackenbarsche und lauernde Muränen. Weitere eigentlich immer anzutreffende Riffbewohner sind Wimpelfische, Papageienfische, Seenadeln, Napoleon Fisch usw.
Ich habe zwei Tauchgänge dort gemacht und war nicht enttäuscht. Auch wenn ich beim ersten Tauchgang noch mit meinem Razor Sidemount System beschäftigt war.
Man kann hier schon entspannt gut eine Stunde pro Tauchgang einplanen und wird nicht enttäuscht sein.

Today I headed out to the house reef because I wanted to adjust and test my Razor sidemount.
If you have new equipment and want to test it out at your leisure, this is actually the perfect place to do so.
The base provides you with the necessary tanks, and there’s always a lead box on site. A small shed offers shelter from the sun, and there are plenty of places to hang your gear. There’s also a shower on site, as well as restrooms and a bar to help you stay hydrated 😉
The starting point is the “sand slide” at the small beach in front of the “Arabella Azur” hotel. There, the sandy bottom drops like a slide from 0 to about 30 meters. In my opinion, it makes sense to descend to about 20 meters and then head right toward a large coral boulder. From there, you can continue diving to a depth of about 7–8 meters and, with any luck, see plenty of marine life. On the way there, the reef is on your right. You often see plenty of glassfish and their predators, such as: rusty lionfish, golden trevally, small groupers, and lurking moray eels. Other reef inhabitants you’ll almost always encounter include bannerfish, parrotfish, pipefish, Napoleon fish, etc.
I did two dives there and wasn’t disappointed. Even though I was still getting used to my Razor sidemount system on the first dive.
